Sri Raghavendra Saptaaha Mahotsava is celebrated in commemoration of the Vedanta Samrajya Pattaabhisheka and Janmadina of Shri Raghavendra Guru Sarvabhauma.


Every year since 1994, during the Phalguna Masa, the Samithi performs the week long Mahotsavam with religious gaiety and enthusiasm in different locations.


This year's Saptaaha - The 17th Shri Raghavendra Saptaha Mahotsavam is being celebrated at Salem between 15th and 21st February 2010.

About the Samithi

Sri Raghavendra Saptaha Karyacharana Samiti, headed by Sri.Archak Parimalachar, Mantralayam, has been celebrating Sri Raghavendra Saptaha Mahotsavam since 1994, during the Phalguna Masa.


Some of the activities of the Samithi are SriRasam, Sarva Bhayaprada Sri Raghavendra Prarthana, Flood Relief Activities, Book Publications, Sri Raghavendra Saptaha Mahotsavam.

Sri Raghavendra Saraswatham (Sri Rasam)

Since 2004, the Samithi has been regularly helping few schools in and around Mantralayam and many poor students enrolled in such schools.

Sarva Bhayaprada Sri Raghavendra Prarthana

Every Thursday, a group Prarthana (prayer) on behalf of devotees is performed in Mantralayam and offered to Sri.Raghavendra Swamy (Sri.Gururajaru). The main purpose of this activity is only to pray

  • for better living of the devotees
  • for betterment of man kind & the society
  • for peace and harmony among the human community

and also, if any specific reason as indicated by devotees, the Prarthana program would be carried out specifying the same.

( Devotees would communicate such information over telephone or through the mail system and specifies the cause / reason )



Flood Relief Activities

While many Mutts, Organizations, Clubs, Groups of People and Individuals came forward to extend a helping hand during the time of crisis, the activity of distributing the relief materials to the needy and to the right families who were effected during the floods, was a very herculean task. This activity was very effectively carried out by the Samithi in an around Mantralayam.

    List of Mutts / Organizations who came forward for extending help were:

  • Sri Palimaru Mutt - Udupi,
  • Sri.Uttaradi Mutt - Bangalore
  • Rotary Club - Tirupur
  • Devotees & Organizations from different places like Chennai, Bangalore, Salem, Coimbatore, Mysore

    Relief materials received from various Mutts, Organizations, Clubs and Individual were distributed to the flood victims. The list of items collected and distributed are furnished below:
  • 100 quintals of rice
  • 1000 plastic buckets
  • 3000 Blankets & 3000 Bed Sheets
  • 2000 Biscuit Packets
  • 100 House Hold Steel & Aluminium Utensil items
  • 500 Ready Made Clothes & 1000 Sarees (400 new + 600 old good ones)
  • 600 T Shirts
  • 1000 Dhoties / Lungies
  • 300 Towels
  • 100 General Grocery Item sets
  • 200 Note Books for School Children
  • Cash + vessels + clothes (for 1 family – for performing a flood victim daughter’s marriage) worth Rs.15,000/=
  • A brilliant student – Kum.Geetha, , who was about to get enrolled for the secured Engineering Seat = Rs.30,000/=
  • School Fees for the victims’ wards who were studying in Sri Venkateswara Public School – Sri Sharada Public School & Sri Parimala School worth Rs.20,000/=
  • Financial aid to Farmers for erection of electrical poles and transformers (nearly 20 farmers in and around Mantralayam – Nadi Khairawadi Road) Rs.15,000/=
  • To ensure proper supply of drinking water in the town of Mantralayam an amount of Rs.40,000/= was offered to the Mantralayam Panchayat Office for procuring a 25 HP Water Pump

Sri Raghavendra Saptaha Mahotsavam

Sri Raghavendra Saptaaha Mahotsava is celebrated in commemoration of the Vedanta Samrajya Pattaabhisheka and Janmadina of Shri Raghavendra Guru Sarvabhauma.

Every year since 1994, during the Phalguna Masa, the Samithi performs the week long Mahotsavam with religious gaiety and enthusiasm in different locations. The 17th year’s Saptaha Mahotsavam is scheduled this year, at Salem from 15-02-2010 to 21-02-2010.

During the Saptaha Mahotsavam special Poojas, Homas, Discourses, Religious Activities coupled with activities like, Quiz, Medical Check up Camps, etc. would be performed.

Every year, the Saptaha Mahotsavam is gaining huge popularity on account of the interesting activities which are performed.

 
History of Saptaaha

The Saptaha Mahotsavam commences with the celebration of Sri.Rayaru's Pattabhisheka on Phalguna Shuddha Dwiteeya and ends with the birthday celebration of Sri.Raghavendra Swamy on Phalguna Shuddha Saptami.


Every year, the Samithi organizes the Saptaha Mahotsavam in a different location, with great religious gaiety and enthusiasm.
